Excellent coffee maker, June 14, 2011 By Vince
"I simply repurchased a brand new Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill (CCM-16PC1) once my original identical unit died once ten years of usage. i used to be happy to visualize that i used to be able to purchase the precise same unit together with stainless end. I hope to urge another ten years out this one. I highly advocate the grinder. it's additionally pretty snazzy looking!"

An attractive, efficient, and competent grinder, March 13, 2004
By Trey Harris (New York, NY United States)
"This is the second automatic hopper-type burr grinder that I've owned. the primary was the similarly-priced Capresso 551.01, that died once a handful years of use. i do not understand what the lifespan of this Cuisinart grinder are going to be however, however thus far i am very impressed with the comparison between the 2. begin with the burden, at nearly four pounds--it merely feels a lot of substantial. (The Capresso could be a comparatively diminutive a pair of lb. 9 oz.) The casing is a beautiful stainless-steel (which may be a veneer over plastic, however it actually appearance nicer than the Capresso's black plastic) and also the hopper and grind chamber are of thick, good-quality acrylic.
The Capresso had to be emptied before changing the grind coarseness, and had atiny low, finger-bruising wheel with that to regulate it, however the Cuisinart's entire hopper turns freely to regulate the grind, crammed or not. i am additionally more than happy to search out that the Cuisinart does not dirt the countertop with a sprinkling of coffee once use, because the Capresso did. The motor is not whisper-quiet by any stretch, however it isn't as noisy as several home grinders.

There are solely 2 disadvantages of this grinder, in my opinion. First, the timer will solely be adjusted in two-cup increments (minimum of four cups). It will this with a satisfying click, but still, i might wish to nudge the slider somewhat for a weaker morning brew or a stronger nighttime one. Second, the hopper contains nearly four cups' value of coffee below the visible space, within the machine. That, combined with the grinder's heftier weight, makes it a chore to empty it if you wish to vary coffees (say, if a guest requests decaf). Not solely does one got to flip this brute upside-down, however you furthermore mght got to flip it each that approach so all the coffee within the machine works its answer.
But these are minor quibbles. Overall, this is often a wonderful machine."

Water Filters for Cuisinart Coffee Maker, January 20, 2011 By GregOnAmazon
"This package consists of two replacement water filters for the Cuisinart Coffee Maker which we purchased June 2010. The filters contain charcoal and are easy to replace and safe to use. I highly recommend using and replacing these filters on a regular basis, we find that the filter definitely separates unseen micro-impurities from the water before the coffee is brewed. And even though we have well water and are lucky to have a clean and healthy supply, we have still noticed a difference in the taste and aroma of the coffee. Charcoal filters are natural and extremely effective. We find this product to work surprisingly well, quality made and priced accurately. "

Many improvements over the DGB-600BC, November 8, 2009
By Jewel Cardwell (Centreville, VA United States)
"We had a DGB-600BC and used it daily for concerning four years. The grinder assembly finally seized and that we might not take away it. we tend to had been wanting around for a replacement coffee maker, anyway, therefore we tend to went ahead and acquired this one (DGB-650BC) at a neighborhood store. We've been using it for one or two weeks currently and it makes a fine cup of coffee, a bit like the last one did. I noticed quickly, that a couple of things that turned out to be problems with the last model had been fastened or improved upon with this one.

 1) The grinder compartment is far higher separated from the water reservoir and conjointly designed higher for all the grounds to travel into the filter basket. The older model perpetually left somewhat of a large number, each within the grinder compartment and on the insufficient shelf that separated the filter basket from the occasional pot, and round the burner plate. i have never seen any of that mess with this model. i am unable to tell you the way happy that produces me.
 2) the insufficient shelf I spoke concerning in #1 is currently gone. that is a and. Since this maker is intended higher, it is not required anyway. Also, this shelf caused build up round the door latch creating it laborious to shut when a really short time. i am glad it's gone.
 3) The filter basket door mechanism is way higher designed. The recent model I had to slam shut, typically repeatedly, before it'd keep shut. This one encompasses a far better and additional durable hinge mechanism and latch.
 4) New to the current model (the recent one did not have this) may be a window on the aspect therefore you'll be able to see what proportion water you are pouring in. It's clearly marked and encompasses a red floating ball to create it simple to check. i actually like this feature. The grinder appear somewhat louder than the recent one, however I've never met a coffee grinder that wasn't loud and it's just for a really short time. i really like having freshly ground coffee very first thing within the morning. As so much as cleanup goes for the grinding assembly and filter basket, it solely takes a second or 2. apart from the coffee pot itself, there are five items to wash and it very is fast and straightforward to empty the filter basket and rinse the items. In short, this is often fine coffee maker, a lot of improved from the DGB-600BC, and that i am happy we tend to upgraded to it."

Great machine.....please read, November 29, 2005 By Dr. M. Diercks (California)
"This is very a good coffee maker. The negative reviews all appear to be fixated on the very fact that you simply have to be compelled to pour water into the reservoir, and also the unit does not go along with a container for this purpose!! Is Cuisinart the Devil? ought to I decision my lawyer and file a category action suit? what's wrong with folks today? Is is basically that tough to obtain a plastic pitcher of some type, fill it with water and then transfer that water into the coffee maker? i believe not, and that i do it one or 2 time daily myself while not covering my kitchen counters with water. If you're powerless to pour water from a pitcher into the reservoir of a coffee machine, i actually don't suppose that you simply ought to be trusted with a hot cup of occasional either.
The coffee tastes nice, never burnt. it's simple to program and clean and doesn't take up an entire ton of space. It additionally comes with one amongst those re-usable, permanent gold filters that several corporations sell separately for regarding $20. My girlfriend will operate this factor simply, and he or she features a laborious time working out the remote management for the TV. If she will program this unit, so can you. on the opposite negative comments I even have scan that describe a powerless, malfunctioning unit, I even have had no issues whatsoever with mine. Hope this review was helpful, thanks for reading it."

Wonderful coffee maker, April 27, 2008 By Lori Topaz (Texas)
"I purchased this coffeemaker once careful analysis and am passionate about it a great deal. It makes delicious coffee that stays hot for concerning four hours. The occasional retains sensible flavor for the total time. it's conjointly straightforward to scrub. With an everyday coffee pot (not thermal), the coffee loses its flavor once an hour. This one meets my wants. Also, Cuisinart warranties it for three years. I even have owned a grind and brew coffee maker and like this one that i exploit in conjunction with my grinder. It isn't good, however the little drawbacks do not trouble me. Yes, it's a trifle arduous initially to scan the fill markings for water. to induce the last little bit of coffee out of the carafe, you are doing need to start the lid and extremely tilt the carafe. On the opposite hand, that last bit tastes sensible. I conjointly just like the appearance of this device. The stainless-steel goes with several alternative appliances. Overall, it's a advocate."

Finally The Best Coffee Maker, January 27, 2011 By Rocco (Spokane, WA)
"My wife and I drink a lot of coffee and have owned both glass and thermal carafe coffee makers. We prefer the thermal carafes because the coffee simply tastes better for a longer period of time. We have owned two other thermal carafes and this Cuisinart outperforms them both. 1. This machined brews 12 cups instead of 10 and does not take up much more counter space. In fact it is only 14.5 inches tall which I needed in order to fit under my cabinets. (The product specs on Amazon states it is over 16 inches tall.) 2. The carafe itself seems sturdy and pours coffee with minimal to no dripping. The coffee stays hot for several hours. No need to preheat the carafe. 3. It is EXTREMELY easy to clean. The stainless steal looking sides are smudge proof so you don't constantly see fingerprints all over it. 4. The water tank and water level indicator, though only on one side, are easy to read. I have had no issues with spilling (just make sure there is no coffee in the carafe before brewing a new pot and make sure the lid is on correctly). This coffee maker also has a 1-4 cup button, a regular or bold brew choice and you can choose to keep the "finished" beeping on or off. The beep it does emit is not very loud and not annoying..like some can be. Overall, this is the best and most trouble free coffee maker I have had int he past 20 years."

Customer Reviews for Cuisinart DCC-2600 14-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker
May 26, 2009. By John Errera
"This is a replacement for my old Cuisinart coffee maker which I had for about six years or so (the predecessor to this model). I loved my old one even with some of the little quirks it had. It beat out any Braun or Krupp pot which I had ever owned. This new updated model is a winner. All of the small annoyances have been solved, such as the small fill tank opening, the dripping cover that leaked back into the fill tank, and finally, thank you Cuisinart people, a water level guide on the outside of the unit. The front knobs on the front are now also easier to see and use. As my other Cuisinart did, it brews superior coffee and quickly. I find it takes about one minute per cup... 12 minutes for twelve cups, not bad at all. Yes, the unit does make some clicking and popping noises when it is new, so did my old one. But that goes away in time as the unit gets "broken in". I do not think you can find a better coffee maker on the market."

May 29, 2009. By Dorothy
"We take coffee very seriously in my house and when our old Cuisinart broke I wasn't sure I wanted another. But they fixed the design problems (hard to pour the water without spilling, no visible water gauge) and it makes great coffee. Highly recommend it."

The Quest for a Perfect Cup of Coffee
It is generally agreed that there are four basic elements critical to the perfect cup:
Element 1. Water:
Coffee is 98% water. Often overlooked, the quality of the water is as important as the quality of the coffee. A good rule of thumb is that if your water doesn’t taste good from the tap, it won’t taste any better in your coffee. That’s why Cuisinart has added a water filter to the Brew Central coffeemaker. The charcoal water filter removes chlorine, bad tastes and odors, for the purest cup of coffee every time.
Element 2. Coffee:
While the bulk of the liquid is water, all of the flavor should be from the coffee. To achieve the same great quality of coffee you receive at a coffee bar, you need to use the same quality beans. Buy the beans fresh and whole, only about a two weeks’ supply at a time for maximum freshness. Once the coffee bean is broken, its flavor degrades very quickly. If it is not practical to buy small supplies, we recommend you separate larger amounts of beans into one to two week portions immediately after purchase, and freeze them in airtight containers. The best way to maximize freshness is to minimize exposure to air, light and moisture. So, once removed from the freezer, beans should be maintained in a sealed container at room temperature, since damaging condensation occurs every time the beans are removed from the freezer or refrigerator. Note that some coffee experts advise against freezing dark-roast beans, because freezing can cause the oils to coagulate. Other experts disagree. We suggest you experiment and decide yourself.
Element 3. Grind:
The grind of the coffee is critical for proper flavor extraction. If the grind is too fine, over extraction and bitterness will result. Too fine a grind may also clog the filter. If the grind is too coarse, the water will pass through too quickly and the desired flavors will not be extracted. A medium-fine grind is recommended.
Element 4. Proportion:
The cups on the Cuisinart coffeemaker measure 5 ounces. Add the amount of ground coffee that corresponds to the number of cups being brewed. Many coffee bars and the Specialty Coffee Association of America recommend adding 2 rounded tablespoons of coffee per 6 ounces of water. Some coffee manufactures recommend using 1 tablespoon per cup. Cuisinart recommends using 1 tablespoon of ground coffee per cup, but use more or less to suit your taste. Note: the maximum capacity for ground coffee is 15 tablespoons for the 12-cup coffeemaker. Exceeding this amount may cause overflow if the coffee is too finely ground.
Features and Benefits
1.    Reservoir Cover: Flips back for easy filling.
2.    Water Reservoir: When filling the coffeemaker with water, refer to the carafe height markings and fill to the desired number of cups. Be sure to add a small amount of extra water to account for the amount of water lost in wetting the grounds and lost as steam during the brewing process.
3.    Showerhead: Distributes water evenly over coffee, reducing temperature loss as water passes through grounds.
4.    Water Filter: Charcoal water filter eliminates chlorine, calcium and bad tastes or odors from tap water. Cuisinart recommends changing the water filter every 60 days or 60 uses ‒ or more often if you have hard water.
5.    Filter Basket: Holds a #4 paper filter or a permanent filter.
6.    LCD Digital Clock: Displays the time of day and set time for automatic functions.
7.    Function Knob and Flip Switch: Used to initiate programming of automatic functions.
8.    The Auto On feature is used to program the start time of the brew cycle. The Auto On can be set for any time, day or night. The PM indicator is displayed on the LCD for nighttime program times. The Auto Off feature is used to shut off the coffeemaker at a preset time, anywhere from 0 to 4 hours. Note: To program the coffeemaker to shut off automatically, read the instructions included in the Instruction Manual under 'To program the Variable Auto Off'
a.    Heater Plate Control Knob: For controlling the temperature of the coffee after brewing. There are three temperature settings high, medium and low.
b.    1-4 Cup Setting: The 1-4 cup setting button is used when you make small amounts of coffee. Normal coffeemakers will produce a colder batch of coffee when smaller amounts are made, because the heater doesn’t have enough time to properly ‘warm up’ to heat a small amount. The 1-4 setting basically ‘double heats’ the water, making your smaller amounts as piping hot as a full pot would be. To use simply press the 1-4 button on the control panel after turning on the unit.
c.    Retro-style flip switch is used to turn your coffeemaker on and off and works in tandem with the function knob.
9.    Clean Setting: Tells you when it’s time to clean your coffeemaker. Remove built-up calcification from the water reservoir, to help extend the life of your coffeemaker.
10.    Brew Pause: Stops flow of coffee from basket when carafe is removed (30 seconds max) from the heater plate, so a cup can be poured in mid-brew. Since the flavor extraction rate varies during the brew cycle, we recommend allowing the brewing cycle to finish before pouring the coffee. The coffee brewed at the beginning of the cycle has a flavor profile which is very different from the flavor at the end of the cycle. Once the coffee has finished brewing, stir it before serving to blend the flavors. The coffee at the bottom of the carafe will be somewhat stronger than the coffee at the top.
11.    Carafe: The easy pour, no drip glass carafe has an ergonomic handle and brewed coffee markings for two to twelve cups.
12.    Heating Plate: Scratch resistant with black, nonstick coating.
13.    Ready Tone: Signals the end of the brew cycle with five beeps (coffee will continue to stream from the filter for a few seconds after the tone).

Cuisinart SS-780PC Single Serve Brewing System, Includes 54 K-Cups & 6 water filters

Customer Reviews
Bestest Ever!, December 21, 2010 By Eric

"I cannot believe how good this product is in combination with Keurig's K-cup system. We've owned the Bosch Tassimo and loved that for the last year until we couldn't get the descale light to go away, plus the selection was quite limited to Starbucks and Gevalia. Both good brews (not great), but in comparison to the variety of the K-cup system they look and taste paltry in comparison. Caribou Coffee is a mirror image (tastewise) of what you buy in stores and the Donut Shop blend from the Coffee People is incredible as well. For a bigger kick Emeril's Bold and Easy is fantastic, or you can brew your own blend of whatever you like in the reusable cup which Cuisinart nailed. Coarse ground coffees fresh from Dunkin Donuts come out very weak and are not advisable, but their Turbo Hot blend sold in grocery stores brews FANTASTIC as it has a finer grind. I think you can re-grind coarse coffee in a burr grinder to get a deeper brew.

Again, if you love coffee and you love the idea of the single brew system then this Cuisinart is for you. It's a solid machine that brews a very impressive cup of joe from a variety of vendors."

"This model appears to be the second generation, so some of the "bugs" of the first model have been fixed. I was not looking for a new coffee maker, honestly, I received it threw my employers rewards program. It was probably the only item that interested me, so I read the reviews on here and took the plunge. It is a pricey item but is very well made and should provide years of service. Now, this world of gormet coffee makers is all new to me. I was perfectly satisfied with a can of Folgers and my Mr Coffee. However, the first cup with this new brew system was a real treat!
It will open up a whole new world of coffee blends for you one cup at a time. You can adjust the strenth of the coffee simply by making a larger cup. I also enjoyed the other choice of hot apple cider in the k cups. The hot chocolate, milk and dark chocolate, I found to be just OK. You can rinse the machine after brewing one of those choices and it will not interfer with the taste of your next cup of coffee.
Anyhow, I have ordered several different varities of k cup blends to try and find this to be a real adventure. If your on the fence about purchasing this brewing system, I say it will be a treat for you and your entire family. I also have the k cup lazy susan dispenser on the counter and it looks great together and functions well. when company comes over, this is a real conversation piece and everyone chooses their own blend and makes their own cup...or two. It's a lot of fun, my friends bring the desert and I supply the coffee. A good deal all the way around. Buy it and have fun!"

The Quest for the Perfect Cup of Coffee
Any hot beverage is made up primarily of water. Often overlooked, the quality of the water is as important as the quality of the coffee, tea, or cocoa. A good rule of thumb is that if your water doesn’t taste good from the tap it won’t taste any better in your beverage. That’s why the Cuisinart Single Serve Brewing System has added a charcoal water filter that removes chlorine, bad tastes, and odors, for the purest cup every time. Cuisinart recommends changing the water filter every 60 days or after 60 uses, and more often it you have hard water.
While the bulk of the liquid is water, all of the flavor should be from the coffee, tea, or cocoa. To achieve the same great quality you receive at coffee bars, you need to use the same quality ingredients. By using the K-Cup, brought to you by some of the most premium brands on the market, you can be assured that you’re getting the finest, freshest gourmet product with every cup you brew. If you choose to make your own coffee make sure all your ingredients are at their freshest.
The grind of coffee and cocoa or the refinement of your tea leaves is critical for proper flavor extraction. With the pre-measured, pre-ground ingredients found in every K-Cup, you can rest easy knowing that it’ll brew perfectly each and every time, locking in maximum flavor and freshness.
