A how-to, for the curious, September 25, 2006 By Sheehan Moore (Fredericton, NB Canada)
"I got my Bialetti Moka Express Stovetop Espresso Makers 6-cup about a week and a half ago. It took me a while to learn all the tricks of the trade, so I thought I'd piece it together here.
1. Rinse out the pot, preferably with warm water and not with any abrasive cloth.
2. Fill the bottom of the pot with water to the line. If you go over it, the pot might explode. Seriously.
3. Fill the middle filter with ground espresso roast (dark) beans. Grind them a little bit finer then auto drip grind, to about the grain of fine sand. Level off the filter, and put it in the pot.
4. Screw on the top hard. Don't use the handle to screw it, because it could snap off.
5. My stove goes LO, 1, 2, ... 8, 9, HI; I usually set it between 3 and 5. It takes 5-ish minutes to finish. Take it off the stove when you hear it gurgling and sputtering.
Things I've learned:
*If it's going to be mainly you drinking the espresso, consider a 3-cup. I usually make a double cappuccino in the morning, and the rest of my family uses no more than 3 shots total. I stick the left-over in a Tupperware container and refrigerate it (a practice sure to make Italians shudder) to mix with milk and sugar when I come home from work.
*You can open the top to watch the espresso come out, because it is really cool. Just be sure to close it before it starts sputtering, because it goes all over.
*Read an article in a magazine or something while you wait--just don't wander off, because the time between when it first comes out and when it's finished is brief.
Moka pots make great 'espresso,' plus they're cheap and quick. From what I've gathered, Bialetti's the best maker. So I definitely recommend this, Bialetti Moka Express Stovetop Espresso Makers. "

"Title says it all. If you're being scared away by the negative reviews, they are there because the owners did not know how to use/operate this Bialetti Moka Express Stovetop Espresso Makers. (Admittedly, it is some effort and the instructions that come with it are not the best...) Here are some tips to keep you from going wrong:
- Rinse the machine, and make two cups before using it for real and toss them. This goes for any coffee maker.
- Never get coffee/grounds in the bottom half or on the threads. Fill the brew cup AWAY from the device, level & clean the edge, and then drop it in. I use a round paper filter in the bottom in addition, as this makes cleanup easier. If you get coffee in the bottom, the taste will be off and the bottom will corrode. If you get coffee in the threads, it will be very difficult to open.
- Do not overfill with water, there is a line there for a reason - do it twice if you want more.
- Do not the the water boil out! When it gurgles, IT IS DONE, take it off heat immediately and serve.
- Clean it immediately after serving. I run cold water on it to cool it off, then wash everything with water ONLY, and dry by hand with a paper towel. If you let the coffee/water sit, or do not dry it properly, it will corrode. If you use any sort of soap you will ruin it.
- Don't use espresso or finer ground coffee. It's not made for espresso, and you'll get too much coffee dust in the brew cup / pipe, and the taste will be off next time. Cheap consumer burr grinders set on 2 or 3 will do it perfectly.
If you take good care of this pot by cleaning it and drying it immediately every time, this pot will last years and provide better quality Italian style black coffee than any drip maker can. It is inexpensive, fun, and delicious - definitely try it if you haven't before. "

it works, February 1, 2005 By Kari Roe
"This works amazingly well. We've used Aerolatte 5 Milk Frother, Satin Finish for a poor-man's latte by microwaving milk, then frothing it to simulate steamed milk, then mixing it with various coffees. We've also used it to froth hot chocolate. Doesn't work that well for making whipped cream."
The best idea ever!, June 19, 2011 By elanc22
"Its like drinking cappuccinos from starbucks, but at home! I totally recommend Aerolatte 5 Milk Frother, Satin Finish. Without the mess of a milk steamer, this little frother creates coffee shop-like drinks in minutes. If you are looking to have yummy drinks, but don't have the money for a cappuccino maker, this is for you!, Aerolatte 5 Milk Frother, Satin Finish"

Follow these tips for a unique coffee, February 3, 2007
By T. Speidel (Canada)
"Every family in Italy owns one of these coffee makers. Here are a few tips:
1. In Italy this is NOT called an espresso machine, but a Moka machine. An espresso is what you would drink in bar made with a steam or high pressure machine with the crema on top.
2. Smaller size Moka machine tend to make better coffee.
3. Never wash the Moka with detergents, just rinse it under tap water
4. You've gotta use it often for a good coffee.
5. If you haven't use it in a while, make a weak coffee ("lungo") and discard
6. DO NOT put the MOka in the dishwasher.
7. Use drinking water. Avoid tap water especially if very chlorinated
8. Never compress the coffee.
9. For a strong coffee fill the filter with ground coffee and make a small cupola that slightly protrudes beyond the rim. Do not press down.
10. For best coffee, heat at very low heat. It's ok if it takes 10min.
11. As soon as coffee reaches the top, remove from heat
12. Do not let the coffee boil
13. Use good quality coffee, not too strong, medium grind (try Illy for a good commercial brand)
14. Sip while still hot, enjoy! "

Break it in first 10-15 pots+, June 26, 2011
By shotokun16
"I rarely write reviews and this probably my second or third review on a Amazon . However, i purchased my Bialetti 6-cup Moka express at Bath & Beyond

I sure do love Italian clothing, cars, women, life-style, food, and the Bialetti Moka Express! This monumental 1933 Italian stove-top espresso design is still one of the best machines out there. Considering the price and its low-maintenance (i.e. replace that little plastic ring after 1-2 years) characteristics, i think this machine will last you forever with quality espresso. After 10-15 pots later i think this espresso tastes similar or even better than those $500-700 espresso machines that you see at commercial or boutique cafes. Why 10-15? i honestly cant tell you. If you use the same beans over time i think the bialetti starts building a cake and the flavors start maturing into fine wine.(IMHO)
I would like to give you guys some tips in making quality coffee with this timeless devic

My method:
* About 80% of the time, i purchase my whole beans from Whole Foods (e.g. Espresso kind) and I usually pay attention to its roasting date. Try to get your beans either on its roasted day or within the 2-4 day mark. Store your beans in a tight mason jar where light & air cannot seep through. STAY AWAY FROM STARBUCKS or other non-organic grocery stores
* Always grind your own coffee. I grind my coffee around second to the third last level in fine. [My 5-month grinder and going strongCuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill (CCM-16PC1) I wouldnt recommend this grinder for high end espresso machines just for french pressing and bialetti moka express
* While grinding your beans fill your bialetti to the the indicator line with cold, fresh, and filtered water
* Turn on your stove around medium to medium-low
* Fill your moka express to the top (where you can see grounds falling off from the side; try not to over-tamp it will just take a little bit longer for the espresso to come out) and brew her. (Set your timer around 5:45 to 6minutes. After numerous pots on my electric stove i think 5:45-6minutes is a good indicator in checking up your bialetti. Remember this isnt a tea kettle so stay close so you can hear the low rumbling pitch)
* When the noise starts screeching and stops its time to pour.

Optional:
* I add 1-tsp of Organic Vanilla Syrup
* Raw Organic Brown Sugar Cane
* Heavy whip cream (not recommended for the calorie cautious)
* And a dash of raw Cocoa (Organic Cocoa)

Stir and enjoy!
When a coffee takes 8-10 minutes to make by hand you know its gourmet and going to taste amazing. Enjoy!
NOTE: Only clean it with hot water refrain from any heavy detergent applications. I sometimes use a mild soup mix after 1-2months with hot water. Treat your Bialetti with respect and kindness and she will paint you the world after every sip. "

Finally, no carafe, October 28, 2006 By G. Boggs "another critic" (Memphis, TN)
"My bride and that i have owned in all probability a half-dozen or therefore coffeemakers throughout out 15-year wedding. we have a tendency to each love coffee within the morning, and that we prefer to have it piping hot and prepared after we rise. We've had some superb coffeemakers and owned a spread of brands and models. however all however 2 had one major Achilles' heel - a glass carafe. but onerous we'd strive, those glass carafes perpetually got broken. And once they got broken, the unanimous refrain from stores and makers was: "Sorry, we do not provide that version anymore." So, it absolutely was a replacement coffeemaker or nothing.

We conjointly owned one among those fancy units with an insulated carafe. Well, a minimum of for the unit we have a tendency to bought, that cuts 2 ways that. Yes, the coffee within is insulated from the frigid winds of our kitchen. it's conjointly effectively insulated from a hotter (which the unit failed to have or, obviously, need). currently I will tell you that, with the attainable exception of the foremost secret analysis bowels of NASA, there's no insulated carafe within the universe that's as effective as a hotter unless one consumes one's coffee terribly quickly.
Not solely will this unit create nice coffee, there's no carafe to break!! Or wash!! many thanks, thank you, many thanks Hamilton Beach. We love it.
One caveat: when the user's manual tells you to frequently descale the unit, do so. Else the machine can get sulky and easily refuse to brew your coffee. It's in all probability unionized, who knows, however it will effectively sit down on the work. currently the manual has been fine tuned by an attorney and recommends descaling monthly. Given the degree of dissolved mineral in our water, we have a tendency to descale once each six months and every one is okay.

I love this coffee maker, June 27, 2011 By Rook
I just started drinking coffee again and this coffee maker is very easy to use. No carafe to break. I can make 12 cups of my favorite brew.

I will say this..it did have a plastic taste at first but it is gone now. I recommend this coffee maker.

Best for your Bunn!, December 27, 2002 By William Taber "coffee fiend" (Indianapolis)
"This is the sole filter to use together with your Bunn 10-cup pourover coffee brewer. The store-brands and therefore the Mr. coffee brand filters aren't tall enough to properly contain the grounds within the basket, as a result of the superior sprayer nozzle found on the Bunn coffee brewers."

Only filter that works well for Bunn Home Pots, April 12, 2011
By S. Naude "Slathessia" (Dunedin, FL USA)
"We love our Bunn Brewer (actually on the second... initial one lasted for years and eventually burned out). This is the acceptable size filter for a home Bunn coffee Brewer. Generic or alternative name brand filters are too short and end in grounds within the pot -- therefore it's well definitely worth the more money to urge real Bunn filters. I used to be ready to get Bunn filters at Walmart and Publix however no additional (why?), that is frustrating. once doing alittle of analysis I discovered that if you've got the area it's really cheaper to shop for directly from Bunn. For a box of 1000 filters (equal to ten individual boxes of one hundred shown here)the worth, as well as shipping and handling, comes all the way down to aprox $1.80 per box of one hundred -- that could be a bit quite i used to be paying at Walmart however [*fr1] the price i used to be on the brink of pay here."

Faster & Hotter than Microwaving, June 15, 2006
By W. Zollo ""the queen"" (MA, USA)
"I initial became hooked on electrical kettles when traveling within the U.K. and have kept pushing aside obtaining one. this is often excellent for my six (O, heavens did i actually say six!) cups of tea each day. Faster than the microwave (only as a result of its really boiled and hot) and no worrys concerning...did I leave the stove on because it incorporates a sensible auto shut-off. It even stays masses heat enough to extra service the primary cup of tea. I love it, am solely sorry it took this a few years to indulge my self with such an easy product!

P.S -- Terrific on snowy days when the kids come in and want hot coco...FAST! (Makes one feel like SuperMom for the rare second or two!!! <g>) "

This was such a trouble, as a result of we tend to solely had one cup that was microwaveable and it did not hold plenty of water. therefore like i said, my friend bought this on behalf of me as a present and it's been fantastic. i am not 100% positive concerning the plastic style most are talking concerning since being school students, my roommates and that i use it for Cups of Noodles, or alternative fast foods that require hot water, particularly hot chocolate. one of a kind, June 5, 2011 By zebulon division
"cheap. glass. boils water. whistles. made in germany and usa. no one else even makes a glass whistling kettle. this one is used directly on a ceramic cooktop without a metal adapter. handle heats up if the handle is placed directly over the burner. surprise. does not make water taste like metal. "whistling kettle" printed on glass vessel in case an alien opened the kitchen cabinet and was unable to identify the object. "

Perfect Kettle for Coffee!, March 24, 2005 By Tim (United States)
"I bought this kettle strictly for heating water for French press coffee making. Since this kettle is glass there's no likelihood of it imparting off flavors to the water (then the coffee). I got bored with my metal kettles changing into discolored and rusted, even with correct care. i like the concept of glass for coffee making and this kettle by Medelco is indispensable for coffee making!

It is conjointly simple to wash (dishwasher safe) and appears wonderful. It holds sixty four ounces of water when crammed to the lowest of the rim, but don't boil that a lot of because it can erupt and shoot steaming water up out of the lid. I feel safe but boiling fifty to fifty five ounces of water, that is quite enough for even the biggest French presses.
I like to use a look thermometer to observe the water temp and stop at 200F, that is that the ideal temperature for coffee brewing. This kettle will have a whistling lid that i exploit (I merely insert the thermometer into the whistling hole). The plastic handle is durable and remains cool (remember you cannot use HIGH heat and expect the handle to remain cool, i prefer medium-high heat) to the bit and pouring is simple (the lid should be removed to pour). All the componets are thick and sturdy (especially the glass). With minimal care this kettle ought to last a lifetime.
All the options I wished during a coffee kettle and raise that an incredible worth. though cheap this kettle doesn't feel low cost. a beautiful value!"

Excellent coffee maker, June 14, 2011 By Vince
"I simply repurchased a brand new Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill (CCM-16PC1) once my original identical unit died once ten years of usage. i used to be happy to visualize that i used to be able to purchase the precise same unit together with stainless end. I hope to urge another ten years out this one. I highly advocate the grinder. it's additionally pretty snazzy looking!"

An attractive, efficient, and competent grinder, March 13, 2004
By Trey Harris (New York, NY United States)
"This is the second automatic hopper-type burr grinder that I've owned. the primary was the similarly-priced Capresso 551.01, that died once a handful years of use. i do not understand what the lifespan of this Cuisinart grinder are going to be however, however thus far i am very impressed with the comparison between the 2. begin with the burden, at nearly four pounds--it merely feels a lot of substantial. (The Capresso could be a comparatively diminutive a pair of lb. 9 oz.) The casing is a beautiful stainless-steel (which may be a veneer over plastic, however it actually appearance nicer than the Capresso's black plastic) and also the hopper and grind chamber are of thick, good-quality acrylic.
The Capresso had to be emptied before changing the grind coarseness, and had atiny low, finger-bruising wheel with that to regulate it, however the Cuisinart's entire hopper turns freely to regulate the grind, crammed or not. i am additionally more than happy to search out that the Cuisinart does not dirt the countertop with a sprinkling of coffee once use, because the Capresso did. The motor is not whisper-quiet by any stretch, however it isn't as noisy as several home grinders.

There are solely 2 disadvantages of this grinder, in my opinion. First, the timer will solely be adjusted in two-cup increments (minimum of four cups). It will this with a satisfying click, but still, i might wish to nudge the slider somewhat for a weaker morning brew or a stronger nighttime one. Second, the hopper contains nearly four cups' value of coffee below the visible space, within the machine. That, combined with the grinder's heftier weight, makes it a chore to empty it if you wish to vary coffees (say, if a guest requests decaf). Not solely does one got to flip this brute upside-down, however you furthermore mght got to flip it each that approach so all the coffee within the machine works its answer.
But these are minor quibbles. Overall, this is often a wonderful machine."

Best coffee I've ever had, June 17, 2003 By Stefohnee "stef" (Redmond, WA United States)
"I previously owned a (much) smaller version of this press, that created a superb cup of coffee. however that was the matter. It solely created a CUP of coffee. I typically have 2, and what if others wish coffee? It takes a jiffy, going one cup at a time.
Needless to mention, I upgraded to the current larger press, that makes regarding three times additional coffee. It makes the most effective coffee ever - I might never return to a junky previous drip coffee maker once this. Yeah, it's additional work than a drip coffee maker, but really, would you rather have fast, simple coffee that tastes dangerous, or a delicious cup of coffee that takes five minutes more?

Using this is often like steeping tea - you boil some water, grind some coffee beans (I hope you are grinding your own coffee beans!) and pour the water over the coffee grounds to allow them to steep for four minutes. Then you push the knob down, that filters delicious coffee into the water and leaves the grounds at the lowest of your pot. Then, voila! you have regarding three cups of yummy coffee, reckoning on to what extent you water your cup down with cream and sugar.
If you are one in every of those people that simply cannot anticipate their coffee, you would be comfortable obtaining a typical drip coffee maker. however if you're keen on coffee, and need it to style nearly as good because it probably will, you've got to shop for this press."

The BEST!, June 9, 2011 By Annie Wagener (Denver, CO)
"Who knew? After years of coffee machines, and the latest $150 machine breaking after just 6 months, I decided to try this. Not only is the end product far superior in taste, but this is classic, beautiful design that takes up much less room than a coffee maker. I bought the milk frother as well so who needs the fancy coffee shops at $6/a cup?! Highly recommend this. "

We made not only the right choice but the Best Choice!, November 3, 2006
By Gary B. Kendrick (McDonough, Georgia USA)
"For years we've used the Mr. coffee Iced Tea makers and have purchased 2 of them. this point around we tend to selected to induce the Hamilton Beach 40911 2-qt Iced Tea Maker. albeit I/we haven't used the feature that permits you to position loose tea within the basket for brewing we tend to totally just like the Hamilton Beach methodology of brewing tea over the Mr. Coffee. initial of all the style (using Luzianne Family Tea luggage was superior to any tea we tend to ever brewed using the Mr. coffee makers. conjointly one terribly massive downside with the Mr. coffee maker is that the basket, for the luggage, sets within the reservoir and maker and most on every coffee you brew a pitcher and take away the basket you have got leakage of tea down within the manufacturers bottom that over time makes for a really ugly trying reservoir, where you place your clean water to brew your next pitcher. as a result of Hamilton Beach placed the basket directly within the Pitcher itself there's never any tea that finds its approach into the lowest of the tea maker. conjointly as a result of ridges within the bottom of the Mr. coffee maker it has always virtually not possible to totally clean the pitcher and restore it back to the clean condition at the time you initially used it. This feature alone makes the Hamilton Beach a much better obtain over the Mr. coffee however i assumed, before my purchase, that surely the 2 would build equivalent tasting tea however using each Lipton and Luzianne Family Tea luggage the Hamilton Beach not solely brews the tea faster however the style is healthier. On the Mr. coffee the strength of the tea is managementled by a sliding knob on the front of the maker whereas with the Hamilton Beach it's 3 rigid clicks of control on the lowest of the basket (mild, medium, strong), we tend to typically use Medium. We get pleasure from "Sweet-Tea" being from the South and anyone that produces smart sweet tea is aware of you sweeten it whereas it's hot at the time of brewing. Our methodology is to initial fill the pitcher to the road and fill the reservoir and refill the pitcher to constant water level and then add a pair of 1/4 to a pair of 1/2 cups of sugar and stir with a whisk till alright mixed. Once the tea is brewed you have got to stir the tea once more however you get good sweet tea every-time. If you get pleasure from tea, albeit you never thought-about an electrical tea maker, the Hamilton Beach are one purchase call you may not regret. Having 2 Mr. coffee makers before this Hamilton Beach i do not see myself ever getting another Mr. coffee unless they create several changes to their product and even then style is that the final call maker. I HIGHLY advocate the Hamilton Beach model and would gladly obtain it once more albeit it had been higher priced than the Mr. Coffee, it's very worthwhile."

Love this kettle, April 30, 2011 By pandagirl
"This was a great purchase. It is my first kettle so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I have had no problems with it. It is easy to clean, heats up fast on my electric stove, and the whistle is loud enough to hear in any part of my apartment, but might be too quiet for a house. The handle does get hot, so I use a towel or a pot older to lift it from the stove and to pour the water, but that isn't a big problem. I also love the way it looks. I would definitely recommend purchasing this product. My tea tastes great!! "

Perfect Kettle for Coffee!, March 24, 2005 By Tim (United States)
"I bought this kettle strictly for heating water for French press coffee making. Since this kettle is glass there is no chance of it imparting off flavors to the water (then the coffee). I got tired of my metal kettles becoming discolored and rusted, even with proper care. I love the idea of glass for coffee making and this kettle by Medelco is indispensable for coffee making!

It is also easy to clean (dishwasher safe) and looks wonderful. It holds 64 ounces of water when filled to the bottom of the rim, however DO NOT boil that much as it will erupt and shoot steaming water up out of the lid. I feel safe however boiling 50 to 55 ounces of water, which is more than enough for even the largest French presses.
I like to use a probe thermometer to monitor the water temp and stop at 200F, which is the ideal temperature for coffee brewing. This kettle does have a whistling lid that I use (I simply insert the thermometer into the whistling hole). The plastic handle is sturdy and remains cool (remember you can't use HIGH heat and expect the handle to stay cool, I like medium-high heat) to the touch and pouring is easy (the lid must be removed to pour). All the componets are thick and durable (especially the glass). With minimal care this kettle should last a lifetime.
All the features I wanted in a coffee kettle and add to that a fantastic price. Although inexpensive this kettle does not feel cheap. A wonderful value! "

The best home coffee maker!, May 1, 2011 By Deanna Jones (Seattle, WA)
"I absolutely love the Keurig! It's so simply and easy. You really only need a minute to make coffee with this machine. Make sure there's water, turn it on and after the water heats up, you're ready to go. Put your K Cup in, select small or large portion, and after less than 30 seconds you have a great cup of coffee.

Once you've gotten your Keurig, I recommend trying the My K Cup, then you can use ground coffee and are not limited to only using K Cups (though there is quite the variety out there, including Caribou flavors.)
I also love that there is no clean up. Just take the coffee (or tea) K Cup out after you've made your beverage and discard, that's it. "

Do your research, then use your head., June 5, 2009 By Peace Frog "Aktur" (Bakersfield, CA)
"I read every single Amazon.com review for this item. And then read them again. I went to the Keurig website and researched the B40. Came back to Amazon and read the reviews one more time. If I was going to pay $100 for a coffee machine, I wanted to be sure I knew as much as possible about it. I finally purchased the B40, and after getting it today and having brewed four cups of coffee so far, I offer the following review (from a BLACK COFFEE drinker, no milk, no sugar):

I think the people who claim this machine is too loud and complain that it vibrates too much are your normal "Mr. Coffee" people. Yes, the machine makes noise. It's pumping pressurized hot water into the K-Cups. Of course it's gonna make noise. I counted each time the noise was made. It lasts five seconds each time, at most. And it's MUCH quieter than my Melitta Mill & Brew, which grinds the coffee beans with a high shrill. This machine also vibrates. But again, it's well worth the minor noise and moderate vibration. You shouldn't be shelling out this much money for a coffee machine if you expect a Mr. Coffee coffee maker. You are buying a "gourmet" coffee machine, and it has some cool features that require hot pressurized water to be pumped through the machine. Not a big deal!
I think a lot of the negative reviews that I read, and maybe all of them, referred to an older version of the B40 that only had one cup size setting. Indeed, when I purchased this machine at Target today, the display model for the B40 had only one cup size. I had to triple-check the box to make sure I was getting the B40 with the TWO cup sizes (and I was). So maybe they have improved the machine since that version.
I read negative reviews about this machine making weak coffee. I was so freaked out about those reviews, I wanted to brew every K-Cup (even the Extra Bold) on the small cup setting. As I was brewing the third cup, I put in a "regular" K-Cup and hit the "large" cup setting. I immediately went into Panic Mode, worried that I just wasted a K-Cup, because my coffee would be too weak to drink. Not true at all! Yes, the coffee was not quite as strong as I would normally like, but it was a very decent cup of coffee. I will not worry if I ever hit the large size on a regular pod again. Although I plan on buying all Extra Bold cups, so that I can brew a bigger cup.
I am extremely pleased with this coffee machine. So much so that I plan to buy two of this same model (or the B60 if it's on sale) as Christmas gifts for my mom and uncle.
As a former coffee house Assistant Manager and an avid fan of "gourmet" coffee, I highly recommend this coffee machine. Probably the best $100 I have spent in at least five years. One of my biggest concerns was that the beans had NO TIME to brew properly in such a short amount of time. But I was completely wrong. This machine brews a nice, bold, rich cup of coffee. Slightly less bold and rich if you brew the regular pods on the larger cup setting; but still very drinkable. I was also concerned that the pods would leak after removing them from the machine, but they are almost dry. I haven't had a single one drip on the way to the trash can, and I remove them seconds after brewing. I'm extremely pleased with the ease and cleanliness of using this machine. No filters to deal with, no messy coffee grounds, no dirty coffee pots to wash (and filter baskets). The convenience of the machine alone is well worth the minor noise and vibration.
I highly recommend this machine. Just do your research and make sure this is the coffee machine you are looking for. It takes time to research, but it pays off in the end. I couldn't be happier with the B40, and don't see why anyone else wouldn't be just as pleased.
Time for me to make another cup. "

excellent product, surprisingly sturdy, April 9, 2006
By Amalfi Coast Girl (Mid-Atlantic, USA)
"I purchased these when seeing them on the Bodum.com web site. I admit the cool issue lured me in. The cups maintain the temperature of a cappuccino for as long because it takes me to induce to rock bottom of the cup. Additionally it's nice to not would like coasters (especially if you've got men or youngsters within the home). The nine oz cup is a smaller amount than four inches tall, creating it work perfectly beneath the fill spout of my super-automatic Saeco espresso machine (which I additionally love). My husband and that i have had four of those cups for over half dozen months and not one in every of them has broken. I mention this as a result of the nine oz cups appear to be way more durable than the twenty one oz Pavina ice tea glasses. we tend to broke one in every of the twenty one oz cups with the primary ice cube that went into the cup. we tend to broke a pair of others within the initial 2 weeks. Bottom line, I cannot advocate the twenty one oz Pavina. However, the nine oz Pavina cups are terribly robust, having survived half dozen months of daily use with but dainty house owners. i feel you may be very happy together with your purchase of the nine oz Pavina cups.
UPDATE: JULY 18, 2006 All four of the nine ounce Pavina mugs are still intact even with frequent use. I still advocate this product."

Use these glasses from morning to night, April 28, 2011
By Virginia Kuchta "RN retired now cooking hobbyist" (Palmdale, Ca)
"Love these glasses. I have been using them for over a year. I use one for hot coffee or tea in the morning then move on to iced coffee or other cold drinks in the afternoon. I like the fact that there is not any condensation expressed so no marks on the tables nor sticking to coasters. I don't like drinking out of the metal insulated cups, so these are perfect and the size is just right. These glasses can be used in the microwave to heat up lukewarm items. Unfortunately they are quite fragile, so be careful when washing and between uses. My husband is not allowed to wash my glass - one already shattered. "

looks good AND works like a charm! (updated Feb. 2011), January 1, 2008
By Eduardo Nietzsche (Houston)
"It's not often that one finds a product that's both visually attractive AND functionally satisfying. This kettle is one of those rare items: the shiny stainless steel body is beautiful to look at, and it boils water very very quickly! It features a nice big and sturdy handle which is very comfortable, and the spout is perfectly designed so that you'd have to be a real klutz to spill things. The cordless feature is wonderful, I tried a cheap ten dollar "Hot Pot" for a day or two and hated having to deal with the cord, plus that model doesn't have automatic shutoff despite what it says on the box---huge fire hazard! There is also a power-indicator light and water-level indicator gauge which are both handy, and I like that there is no exposed heating element inside which would be a pain to clean. Instead it's all smooth clean lines, inside and out!

Sure the outside of the kettle does get a little hot so you probably don't want to have this within reach of toddlers or anything, but if your toddlers can get up on your kitchen countertop then you have a LOT of other problems as well! I appreciated not having to deal with how plastic inevitably gets dirty-looking and sometimes leaves a funny taste in the water.
My only slight concern is that the lid needs a little bit of force to shut completely...probably some kind of insulating seal that shortens the time needed to bring water to a boil, but makes me wonder how durable that part of this kettle is going to be. Oh well, will find out in a few months or (hopefully) years, I suppose!
*UPDATED 2/14/2011: Still going strong, no complaints at all. I use it at least twice a day, most days. The lid has held up well. Highly recommend! "

great for making coffee, April 20, 2011 By Mr. EL
"I bought this to use for coffee and it is excellent. The just-after-boiled water is the perfect temperature for coffee, and much hotter than almost any commercial drip coffee maker can ever attain. This makes a huge difference to making the best coffee. This hot pot heats very quickly, shuts off reliably. It is great for its price. "

Simply Amazing!, October 23, 2004
By Sarah Morgen "avid reader of horror" (New Hampshire, USA)
"I was thus skeptical of this product that I had to jot down a review for the remainder of the skeptics. this can be a wonderful thanks to get a ecu coffee expertise at home. i am not an enormous fan of Starbucks, I realize their coffee too bitter, however like everybody else I truck over there spending near $4.00 a cup on a specialty latte. this can be totally different. this can be just like the coffee I had each morning in Provence. it's nice flavor and also the frothy high are a few things you may never get along with your regular coffee maker. i like that I will do one cup at a time, thus my coffee is not sitting on the warming plate losing its flavor till i am prepared for an additional cup. It froths itself, thus you do not ought to wear down sophisticated and exhausting to wash steaming mechanisms. It takes a second to boil the water and then but thirty seconds to fill the cup, that is way quicker than creating regular coffee. it's simple to place along, take apart and clean; in reality, after I was comparing the similar-looking Mr. coffee and Black and Decker brands within the store i could not get those 2 models back along when I checked out the pod holder, that cinched the choice on behalf of me on the Senseo (which encompasses a terribly easy press-down locking mechanism). i am thus glad!!! i have never tried the dark roast however, however we have a tendency to love the medium and also the decaf, and also the gentle is good for afternoon. i used to be worried regarding the price of the pods till i spotted that a bag of eighteen is beneath $4.00, that is like twenty two cents a pod. after I balance that against $1.00-$4.00 a cup to induce something remotely similar from a coffeehouse, it looks like the cut price of the century. and that i haven't got to alter out of my pjs! If you're a coffee lover I highly suggest this excellent, distinctive machine."

Great Coffee, March 7, 2011 By Kaitlyn
"The Senseo coffee machine makes a great cup of coffee. The decaf is great when you have to cut back on the caffein, only wish it were more like the dark roast (stronger)."

Great Grinder for the Price, November 6, 2006 By Jim Watson (New Haven, CT USA)
"I see individuals complaining regarding this grinder being too tiny... uh, it's speculated to be small! that might be like shopping for an 18-wheeler tractor trailer and cab and then complaining that the truck was too big!!! Anyway, for atiny low grinder, this issue is nice. i take advantage of it not just for coffee, except for flax seeds and with reference to anything i want to grind up in tiny quantities. If you regularly end up desirous to grind a pound of coffee, then *obviously* this can be too tiny for you though."

Wonderful Lil' Grinder!, April 3, 2011 By Jody
"My husband was quite skeptical once I ordered this...he was wondering why I wasn't shopping for a "better" grinder. When it came, he chuckled maintaining his stance. However, once I used it, i feel he is modified his mind. This grinder grinds! It did a wonderful job on grinding herbs for me (lavender blossoms to be exact). Initially, I ground one Tbl semi-fine. following spherical, once I required additional, and desirous to strive a finer grind for the cookies i used to be creating, I increased the time and conjointly pulsed it. It turned out a pleasant fine powder. Beautiful! it should not be black or chrome steel or seem like an excellent grinder, however this will nearly as good, if not higher, employment than different grinders I've tried at higher costs. i like it! And, one cannot beat this price!"

Customer Reviews
Bodum 34 ounce beaker is commonly called 32 ounce too.and some FAQ too, December 23, 2008 By Eni Lane (Pennsylvania, United States)
"Bodum manufactures four sizes of Chambord French Press sizes.

They are called 3 cup, 4 cup, 8 cup and 12 cup." http://www.bodumusa.com
If Amazon were to have investigated their listing of this replacement beaker, they should have categorized it as that of 32 ounce for less confusion, or should have simply listed the beaker as 8 cup, etc.
Or,even 32/34 ounce may have been a better choice.

Here is the scoop,(in my opinion),for all the confusion of sizes for beakers listed on Amazon or elsewhere.
When you are shopping for replacement beakers you start to realize whom is providing the correct information.
It is not Amazon calling this 34 ounce to help you out, unless the replacement beaker is not made by Bodum and instead some other brand name?
Amazon sells you a 8 cup French Press, then lists the replacement beaker as 34 ounce,i believe that the beakers are either not made by Bodum or information maybe lost in metric sizes to us calculations.Just list the beaker as mentioned above.
Therefore,i shall list clarification for you all and one day will review my own comments incase i require another beaker, although I suggest you buy a replacement one anyways if you become accustomed to enjoying French press coffee.
A French Press is worth nothing if the carafe beaker breaks. Buy one replacement beaker even the first time you have bought a French Press, then years down the road you will have thanked me for that advice.
Have have had mine with no problems since 2006,but felt it is best to be prepared now.

Bodum makes the following sizes clarified as follows.
3 Cup model is 0.35 liters or 12 ounces size beakers
4 Cup model is 0.60 liters or 17 ounces size beakers
8 Cup model is 1.00 liter(one liter size) or 32 ounce beakers
12 cup model is 1.50 liter ( 1 1/2 liter size) or 48 ounce size beakers.

So, when you see 34 ounce beaker listed it is actually 32 ounces or one liter size replacement beaker. That is because a company like Amazon should list it as 32/34 ounce for better clarification just like Bodum website does.
My perception is this 8 cup model is Bodum part # 1508-10

Also, you may consider buying the double walled glass carafe listed on Bodum website as part # 10573-10 but not sure if is listed for sale on Amazon. Just copy-paste the model number 10573-10 in the search mode and find out. On Bodum site,#10573-10 sells for $39.95 for double walled glass carafe. Of course, Bodum has its own shipping fees so find it on Amazon instead to try to get free shipping offers...
Not really sure if double walled glass carafe is worth twice the price, but maybe if you are making your French Press coffee not following directions properly that double walled glass may be your solution to not break your carafes anyways.
Therefore, consider this glass beaker for the masses."

WONDERFUL!! So glad I found this, March 27, 2011 By Chelsea
"have a french press bodum and the glass broke, looked everywhere for a replacement when i was just about to give up and buy a whole new one i found this, fit perfectly!!! so happy! "

Best single-serve coffee maker out there, November 15, 2005
By The Mad Hatter (Pennsylvania USA)
"If you're reading this review, you're most likely doing research and trying to decide between the Keurig line (B40,B50,B60), the Tassimo, or the Senseo. Out of those three, the Keurig is the best looking, the most durable, has the best heating and pumping mechanism, and has the largest variety of coffees and teas available. The Tassimo's versatility is tempting, but variety of coffees is lacking, the machine is a first-run model that does not feel as quality as the Keurig (I could barely find a piece of metal in the entire thing), and it cannot be set to warm itself up like the Keurig. The Senseo isn't bad and I may even consider getting it as a second machine, but it is kind of lame how you need two pods to brew an 8 oz cup of coffee. Considering the price of pods that I was looking at, it would outprice both the Keurig and the Tassimo for daily usage.

Between the Keurig models (B40,B50,B60), I spent a lot of time trying to decide and eventually went with the B60, mainly because the B60 is the only model that brews 3 different sizes of coffee--5.25, 7.25, and 9.25oz. The B50, a favorite amongst shoppers, does not offer the 9.25oz size. This large size allows my Oxo travel mug to almost completely fill after using one Extra Bold K-cup. As an added benefit of the B60, you get beautiful blue LEDs behind the display and the water tank, as well as a polished chrome handle and polished chrome outer-ring to the display. It looks very modern and very classy in my otherwise boring kitchen. Highly recommended. "

Keurig saves me trips to the drive-thru, April 11, 2011
By Dee (Bowels Of Hell Massachusetts)
"Mornings can be hectic..and I can't function without my morning cup of coffee. After forgetting to set my coffee maker overnight, it left me without enough time in the morning to brew a pot of coffee and thus resulted in plenty of trips to a local donut shop drive thru before work. After putting the franchisee's kids through college, I decided to invest in a single cup brewer.

The Keurig B60 was the obvious choice for me. I can choose between 3 cup sizes whether I want a very quick cup, have enough time to savor a cup at home, or fill up my travel mug and take it en route with me. And the best part?? I have the cup size of my choice ready in less than a minute!
The Keurig B60 is a sleek looking model that looks nicely on my counter top with its chrome details and blue LED display.
There are plenty of Kcup varieties on the market...from plain ol' coffee to flavored coffees...flavored teas, you can even brew your favorites over ice. The Kcups are widely available which is great. I noticed that some of the other single cup brewers on the market don't have their brand of products as widely available as these. I've seen Kcups online (of course!), club/warehouse stores, mass market retailers, and grocery stores.
The Keurig B60 is good for those of you who (like me) don't have time (or forget to set the timer) to brew a full pot of coffee (that only goes to waste anyway). Price wise the Kcups are cheaper than a cup of coffee at your local coffee shop, but more expensive than using a traditional coffee pot. There is a kcup filter available, however, where you can brew your own coffee using whatever coffee of your choosing (such as folgers, maxwell house, etc) so it's great that you can use that as an option. This is defintely a great single cup brewer to consider."
